Junkyard Heart: Porth Ewan Bay by Garrett Leigh
Did not finish book. Stopped at 59%.
DNF at 59%
Two premises: one, I adore Garrett Leigh and her books with all my heart; two I loved the first book, House of Cards and I was very intrigued by Kai and I wanted to know his story, so I requested an ARC of this book.
I read a lot of estatic reviews so this is clearly a me problem, but this is what I DON'T want to read in a romance.
I don't want to read about a man who clearly can't get over his previous partner (in this case, a woman).
I don't wan't to read how his previous partner is his soulmate and will be his soulmate forever.
I don't want to read about his previous partner having no boundaries, invading his ex's spaces and interrogating his ex's current love interest.
I don't want to read about his previous partner not giving those two men their privacy and, instead, watching them having sex (and "entertain" herself in the meantime).
I don't want to read about her touching his ex's love interest during their intercourse.
I skipped through the end and in the epilogue there's still conversation about how much Kai will always love Lena and how it's not the same love Kai feels for Jas and how Jas knows that...
It wasn't an easy DNF, but I couldn't go through it, I honestly would have preferred if Lena wasn't in this book at all.
