The Other Name: Septology I-II by Jon Fosse

3.5

John Williams’ Stoner meets Lucy Ellman’s Ducks, Newburyport. That’s the best way I can describe the writing style. The contemplative vibe works for me, but it being written as one run-on sentence (which continues in the other two volumes) not so much. Asle’s present and past go back and forth gracefully in the novel. There is also a doppelgänger of him (though not as successful), and I’m curious to see at what point in their history their lives diverge.
