Life at the Marmont: The Inside Story of Hollywood's Legendary Hotel of the Stars - Chateau Marmont by Fred E. Basten, Raymond Sarlot

3.0

A bit slow in parts, this still ended up being an interesting read (if you're interested in Hollywood history) that might be better consumed in bits and pieces than all at once like your typical book. If you're expecting to read about John Belushi, Jim Morrison, and ScarJo's residencies at the Marmont, you might be a bit disappointed because even though they're mentioned, they are given much less time and space than other Hollywood heavyweights (Jean Harlow, Paul Newman, Roman Polanski, Vivian Leigh, etc.). To a certain extent, this is very much a love-fest, since it was cowritten by one of the former owners. That doesn't diminish the pleasure derived from or the quality on display in the storytelling though.
