Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
4.0
Not a bad book at all, but I think you can definitely tell this is Maas’s earlier attempts at writing. Having read the ACOTAR trilogy, I see the similarities where this book was fine but actually only got good and interesting at the very end of the first book. This book was not without its disappointments (lack of action when the main character is supposedly the world’s best assassin, focus on love triangle over cool-ass competition, telling way more than showing, etc) but I still really enjoyed reading it and had it done in like, a day. I’m definitely intrigued by the world and the characters and I have it on good authority that the actual plot of the series and the character development that occurs is awesome, so I will definitely be continuing the series to see what comes next!
