This is a book I loved so much I wanted to reread it. The writing is fun, clever, beautiful in places and humorously casual often. The relationship is warm and resonant, and the underpinning theme is fiercely hopeful. There is a lot more sex, drinking, and even drugs than I am truly comfortable with, but I still love this book. Like despite the poor decisions and bastardry, I can't help loving Alex (Henry is less conflicting to me). I expect I'll reread this one again...maybe in another 4 years, if I need a dose of hope and distraction.
Graphic: Homophobia, Outing, and Alcohol
Moderate: Drug abuse, Drug use, Panic attacks/disorders, Sexual content, and Death of parent
Minor: Pedophilia, Self harm, and Grief
