Ring of Fire by Pierdomenico Baccalario

Okay... This was better than expected.
Im not going to say anything about the writing style, since I only read the German translation and not the original.
The story is still very mysterious after the first book, which I kind of like. It keeps me hooked to find out more about why all of this is happening, and in the end, that is exactly what I wanted from this book.
Even the build up was really well done, the beginning kept you hooked with the mystery about what is going on in this book at all anyway, and page by page more and more things start to happen, culminating in a finale, that was quite explosive.
The characters were all interesting enough for me, not really the most well-rounded characters I've ever read about, but not too flat that I couldn't enjoy them.
Overall, I do recommend this book. Especially for middle graders, who could really be hooked by this.
I do realize that it is not the newest concept, but it was so well done that I honestly did not care.
