Claws of Death by Linda Reilly

The second book in the Cat Lady Mysteries was as delightful as the first book. Laura and her Aunt Fran are very likable, genuine characters that draw the reader into the story. The secondary cast of characters is diverse and helps to complete the story nicely. I'm not a cat person but I love how much Laura and her Aunt Fran care for the cats in their shelter. It is such a unique premise for an animal shelter and I ever felt a little sad as each cat found it's forever home.

The mystery was solid and woven through the story nicely. There are plenty of clues, twists and turns along with some red herrings thrown in for good measure. Once again, Laura finds herself in the middle of a murder and because it's in her nature to help she tries to do what she can. I thought the author did a nice job of distracting me with false trails and I did not guess the identity of the culprit until the reveal.

This is wonderful series to date that has a great setting, terrific characters and engaging mysteries. I will definitely be back for any future books in the series. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy provided to me by the publisher through Netgalley.
