  • I have no bits to do, this one will be a real review: Jemisin does not shy away from heavy subject matter in this book - she puts it directly on the page so you simply can’t avoid it. And yet, the book doesn’t feel bogged down by its own darkness. Jemisin makes this book compelling not by watering down the content but by creating characters that are easy to care about and interesting to watch. Few authors I’ve read have managed this as skillfully as Jemisin does
  • Will finish the series but am taking a long break first!!
