American Vampire, Vol. 2 by Scott Snyder

Times have changed since the origin of the American Vampire and progress now means flashing lights and Las Vegas getting one of the world's great creations with the building of the Hoover Dam. Little does the city know but the skill and money behind its creation is a lot more sinister than a bunch of rich businessmen. When these men start getting murdered though, it's going to take Las Vegas's police chief and the help from federal agents to get to the bottom of the case.

I enjoyed the expansion of this world and even though it's not a mind-blowing series for me, I find myself enjoying the concepts and creativity of the material. One of my favorite parts was listening to the discussions on the different types of vampires and what is known about their strengths and weaknesses. I was surprised by the slow progression of changing around who we identify as the American Vampire (because of their species title) and how that changes the perspective of the story. I love that each volume ends up being a different era in American history and it makes me look forward to seeing what the next one has in store.
