My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Nagata Kabi
5.0
I really don’t have many words for this book except that it was exceptionally good.
The author brings the readers through her lived experience and while I am fortunate that parts of it are not relatable (the author talk about her eating disorder and her depression), there were parts of it that touched me deeply and made me cry multiple times throughout.
It reminds me a lot of Are You My Mother? by Alison Bechdel in that this graphic novel is autobiographical and touches on certain psychological theories, but as a Freudian psychology hater I was not a fan of that (though unlike Bechdel’s novel, Freudian psychology in this graphic novel is explored briefly and once).
Although this book is not one I would recommend to many, I will say that it did come to me specifically at the right time.
