A solid collection with some great and some forgettable stories, all dealing with similar themes of, you guessed it, humiliation. There are fathers who lose their jobs, women forced to take jobs they consider ‘beneath them’ to make ends meet, people vying for the attention of others to feel validated, chance encounters with strangers and meetings with old friends. It’s wide ranging and I liked that. 

My favourite stories were Last Vacation, Lucky Me and Talcahuano.
