Dream a Little Dream by Kerstin Gier
4.0
Why is it that, as Liv sleeps, she is seeing four of the cutest boys from her new school? And they seem to see her as well?
I absolutely adored Kerstin Gier’s Precious Stones trilogy. I enjoyed those books so much that I have no clue why on earth I waited so long to read this start of another trilogy. Yet again, Ms. Gier gives readers a wonderful main character who is curious, smart, and oh-so-interesting. I loved Liv’s family story with her eccentric mother, precocious sister, slightly unhinged bonus-sister, smoking hot bonus-brother, and a nanny who tangles her words around a cute man. Throw in the other three smoking hot friends of the smoking hot bonus-brother and you’ve got quite a story. Stir the pot and add dream walking? The result is a story so realistic that you’ll have to remind yourself it is fantasy.
Two things took this “down a star:” (1) Liv seems pretty smart. And if she is so smart, why is it that, when she realizes that the groups demon-raising is a real thing, she keeps going forward rather than saying “I’m out?” Well, yes, I guess if she said “I’m out” then we wouldn’t have a story. But what is in this demon-raising for her? And, (2) I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy opener and I’m intrigued enough to want to continue through the other two books. But am I intrigued enough to make this trilogy a priority in my very high, incredibly thick, never-ending TBR stack? I’ve requested the second book from my library. Soon it will be on my TBR bench and we’ll see if it sits there until it is time to return it – or will I grab it and rush back into the story? Only my moody, reading mind will tell!
