A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
3.0
Thank God that this was better written that The Notebook. Thanks to this, I MIGHT read another Sparks book but mostly at the bottom of the list thanks to The Notebook. I'll have to consult reviews first though probably or just get them at bargain prices.
I've seen the movie years ago and I feel like that was better but they each have their own ups and downs. The movie ended the story better but the book made Jamie's situation more heartbreaking since it dives more into it compared to the movie. She is rather too saintly, too perfect though and seeing a bit more flaw with her would've been better to give room for character development.
Now better doesn't mean it's that good. Plot-wise it was set up to get one excited on what happens next. Good enough I suppose but I've already seen the movie before hand so you have to factor that in too. Prose-wise, not as good as hype but acceptable. I thought he would be more poetic about it though.
One thing I've noticed with Sparks books is that the movies seem to be better than the books. But this is only my 2nd Sparks book so...
