2.5

If I liked this book more maybe I'd be able to talk about it more. But here I am making a review giving it only 2.5 stars. I won't complain about it being too long because it's a classic so that much is expected. But this story is not for me. I hoped for Emma to have more character development than she actually did. And I honestly hate the way Emma has this idea of how people might be feeling at the moment and then believes it to be the truth without even knowing the person's thoughts. It was honestly so unbearable towards the ends because at the beginning you could ignore it thinking she'll change but she doesn't really get any better. Also Emma honestly just loves to ruin people's lives mostly Harriet's. Harriet could have been better off without having Emma in her life.
Also really disappointed that I never got enough spring vibes that I wanted to read this book for.

Spoiler ok so let's just talk about Mr Knightley being a pedophile. The part where he described how he has loved Emma since she was 13 and how she was saying that he has helped her by criticizing her as she grew up. That screams grooming to me. And it's actually so disgusting how he was literally 29 when Emma was 13 and he has the audacity to say he loved her since then?! It also feels weird how he didn't marry for so long and it can be interpreted as him only ever loving Emma and not marrying anyone that wasn't her, because the only reason he didn't marry her was because she was just too young. So overall quite disturbing.
