Empire Antarctica: Ice, Silence & Emperor Penguins by Gavin Francis

5.0

Beautifully written account of a year spent in the solitude and expansiveness of the Antarctic, in a landscape that is forbidding, yet breathtaking. I read this, interrupted by frequent googling to read up more on the various Antarctica landmarks and natural phenomena Gavin Francis described and ended up feeling very enriched by this book. Well worth every minute spent on this book!
