The Book of Goose by Yiyun Li

4.25

Someone else on here said that this book "captures the essence of life not in plot but in sentences and sentiments" and I think that's a perfect way to put it.

It's beautifully written, the words read as smooth as butter, and I found it interesting and refreshing to not know for sure where the story was going and what it was about. It felt real and raw, as if someone was retelling their life not as an epic tale but as it truly was.

I always enjoy a good book that focuses on developing the characters for what they are rather than shapping them to fit an impressive and dynamic plot.

I will definitely want to read more by this author.
