Black Panther, Vol. 1: A Nation Under Our Feet, Book 1 by Ta-Nehisi Coates

2.0

I miss the days when you could just jump into comics at any issue. I was lost with this one.

Granted, those missing pieces weren't too hard to get over, but just hard enough. The story was interesting, but I felt that there were too many subplots and not enough pages being dedicated to each subplot in one go. The jumping around is normal for comics but it just didn't work for me this time. I wonder if I was judging Mr. Coates, too harshly on his first attempt at writing comics?

In any event, there's enough here to like and perhaps my disappointment is due to the fact that it was book one and therefore setting up the rest of the story arc. The trouble is, I'm not sure I'm motivated to go back and snag book 2.
