The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill

0.75

The author is not very good at pacing or character development, at least in this. Things happen far too quickly between the characters, characters fall for each other too soon and the author’s insistence that every mundane detail of every single thing be described to the nth degree makes it a painful read a lot of the time. None of the characters are particularly well fleshed out and they remain fairly superficial and predictable throughout, they actually all seem quite dumb and we’re simply meant to believe their supposed positive attributes because they themselves/others in the story say they posses them. Also why do they eat out every single day? The focus on food and eating in this was a bit strange, the chapters are all around 5-10 pages each and there’s a food scene in almost every single one of them. The ending was also quite stupid. Do yourself a favour and don’t waste your time on this
