The Legend of Luther Strode by Justin Jordan

2.0

Not quite the alchemical success as the first book. Its becoming clear that there is a total threshold for the amount of this type of violence I can take. By the mid-point of this, it was all just more of the same. The villains were basically just a retread of the first story, though Jack's physicality definitely gave the action some visual nuance that was smart in terms of keeping things fresh. But the Binder is just the same character as the Librarian from Book 1. And the mob set-up at the beginning gets lost, which is...good? It wasn't terribly interesting, until it was overtaken by the Binder/Jack stuff, and then I desperately missed it.

Petra is kind of a bore, in that she has basically no character in this one. Plotting was weak, with forced twists and unearned pathos.
