Yamaguchi-kun Isn't So Bad, Volume 1 by Yuu Saiki

funny lighthearted

3.0

This is SUCH an adorable manga, and one of the better shojo titles I've read this year. But I have to knock a star off due to the English translation, which actually deterred me from purchasing the rest of the series. Kodansha is hit or miss when it comes to translation quality of their shojo titles in particular, so I'm not too surprised, I guess. I'm just really disappointed that the translation for a series as good as this ended up the way it did. AND it annoys me that publishers think it's OK to put out a final product like this.

Anyway. I 100% recommend this title if you're in the mood for something wholesome and cute, just know that the English translation is Not Good. The characters and art are so good you'll be able to power through it anyway, but imagine how amazing this series could have been with a more polished English script?! I mourn what could have been!!!
