The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood

4.0

Spoiler
Are there extremists, religious/political/both who would welcome a society like the one depicted in this story? Who would welcome Sharia or something like it? People who are insecure, frightened, who aren't capable of tolerating differences?

The prose is sleek at times, poetic at others. It really seemed like the kind of narrative that someone might tell; someone who had been traumatized almost to the brink of insanity or suicide.
