This book is genuinely scary- I loved how intentionally the layout was designed, especially the “jump scares” with set-ups and reveals separated by page turns. I liked the shift between photo-realism and a more drawing style during flashbacks, which was not only a visual clue that we were in a flashback, but also gave the impression that these memories were slightly less real than the present, which I thought was an interesting touch. All in all, the art, colors, layout, and writing were all so good on their own, but they also worked together to create an atmospheric and creepy story that has something interesting to say.
