Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray
5.0
Man, what a ride. Claudia Gray is the gold standard of Star Wars novels, and Master and Apprentice is no exception, weaving a tale of intrigue with a great character driven look at Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. Qui-Gon in particular has never been better, as Gray has taken a character only seen in the maligned Phantom Menace and makes him a well-rounded, interesting character. Additionally, Master and Apprentice takes the political focus of the prequels but actually does it well. Master and Apprentice in general feels like an answer to "what if the prequels were really good?"
