Don't Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders

dark mysterious slow-paced

2.0

WTF did I just read? I'm all for a thriller and the narrator was pretty easy to listen to, but man, oh man, this just made no sense. From the start, the author has quite a few phrases that, when listening, felt a lot like deja vu, yet I would remember the same exact wording or phrasing being used to describe something like being pregnant (built like a house) at least two or three times - was there no thesaurus or creativity left to find a different comparison?
SpoilerAlso, the "twist" was so predictable and unrealistic that it made me want to drop the book, but by that point, I was on chapter 42, where the only good pieces of this book seemed to begin. In what world, would a father feel "survivor's guilt" and protect his insane as fuck daughter and the expense of a new baby who he seems to be very protective of. This is NOT how the human psyche would work in this instance and lent absolutely no credibility to the ending of the story.
I wish I had picked another book to listen to instead...
