A Kingdom of Exiles by S.B. Nova

2.0

**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** I'm only on Chapter 28, but I'm pretty confident that my rating will not change. So far, Serena is incredibly useless. It had such a good start, but after she meets Hunter, things went downhill from there. Her environment post-trial is completely set up to where she doesn't really have to do anything but writhe in her own emotions and what she wants to do but can't. The most action and spark of character you get from her is through her thoughts of violence/sex and indirectly through "Auntie". With that being said, she surprisingly has strong fae males wrapped around her finger. Could not roll my eyes any further after Frazer decides to bond with Serena as kin within a couple of days; could not flip a table faster than when it was mentioned Wilder was one of the strongest fae and also...celibate??? The romance makes me cringe; there's a lot of misunderstandings, drama, and possessiveness. There is more partnership and collaboration between Frazer and Serena that I wish they were the power couple that we need/want/deserve. Serena's journey in this book is one I wish to never live vicariously through again, and I hope the sequels are better. To be compared to Sarah J. Maas is inaccurate, so I don't recommend if that's your motivation to read this.

Will update this review once I finish.

***UPDATE***

Not a surprise, my opinion on the book still stands.
