A Lady's Guide to Scandal by Sophie Irwin

2.0

Oh, what to say.... I truly loved A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting and was so excited to read another work by this author. Note: this is not a true series; each can be read as a stand-alone. Unfortunately, I was majorly disappointed. I almost put this book down at several points but kept pushing through.

My main complaint is that I did NOT like the main character. She was your typical pushover, who instead of learning to speak for herself became one who couldn't think through anything logically. In fact, at one point a character said to her, "to allow yourself to think would be disastrous," and I literally laughed out loud. (Quote may change as this was an ARC.)

There's a love triangle here that the author played horribly. I became very invested in one, only for her to end that and switch the MC to the other love interest, only for that to shatter. I did not want her to end up with either man! They were both horrible. I felt like she ended with who she should have, but I wasn't happy for them at that point.

Overall, this was a very slow read with characters I couldn't root for (but was obviously supposed to,) and I ended feeling very disappointed/annoyed.

I do appreciate the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my own thoughts and opinions.
