This review is for the short story Stone Hunger by N K Jemisin only.
I loved the Fifth Season and I love Stone Hunger. The style has a bedtime story vibe. For me the world building is complete enough, I would not have needed to read The Fifth Season first. But you should read the other books too.
Thank you to Clarkesworld Magazine for making this short story available for free. And also for the reminder that I need to read The Obelisk Gate before I forget so much I have to reread The Fifth Season.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Violence, Blood, Grief, Murder, Abandonment, and Injury/Injury detail
Graphic hunger.
