This was a pretty fast read, at least for me, and it kept me on my toes quite a bit. I felt like the world was rich and deep. I haven’t read the Remnant Chronicles, the books that came before these, and I was thankful that the author didn’t expect us to have.
In general, I really loved the relationship between Jase and Kazi. Their struggles from having completely different world views seemed realistic. I really didn’t like the constant lying. They often kept key plot points from each other for no particular reason.
Jase sometimes really reminded me of Draco Malfoy. He could be incredibly entitled and angry. There were times where he really grated on my nerves. He often couldn’t look past his pride to see the whole picture or even to try and understand Kazi. By the end of the book he seemed slightly better, but he still has an entitled air about him that I don’t enjoy.
