Just Haven't Met You Yet, by Sophie Cousens

5.0

This lovely rom-com by Sophie Cousens, author of a book I loved last Christmas (This Time Next Year), was precisely what I needed on this wintery stay-home day.

The story follows protagonist Laura on her request to find true love while working as a journalist resigned to telling other people’s “meet-cutes.” And, in true hopeless romantic form, she tends to imagine these meet-cutes in every interaction she has… other than maybe in the one that matters most.

The characters sprang off the page and were utterly lovable. Woven within the love stories are tales of loss, friendship, and redemption. Laura’s work is fairly thankless, and I found myself rooting all the way through the job for a new boss or a new job for her.

Ted; well, he’s my favorite. Enough said - for now.

This book was better than most rom-coms, and you know I love me this type of story, period. It had all the feel-good elements, anguish, and a little romance to keep it enjoyable.

Sophie Cousens is quickly becoming a favorite author for me. I can’t wait to see what she writes next! If you’re not feeling “holidayish” in your reading yet, pick this one up - it has all the good vibes and warm storyline to still keep you in a happy place this season.
