A beautifully written story about a young Black girl trying to get to Someplace Special by herself during the Jim Crow era and all of the people and things she encounters along the way. This would be a great book for kids to practice making predictions, for learning about segregation, and for talking about what is and isn't fair in regard to how people are treated by others.
