The Lies We Tell by Katie Zhao
Did not finish book.
Dnfed at 45%
Look, this book isn't bad. It's just that everything was extremely predictable and everything was going exactly as I expected it. The writing flowed well but it was nothing exemplary so I was just reading mindlessly.
Could I have finished this book? Yes. But I knew in my bones I would just give it a very average bleh rating so why put more time and energy into it? That's been my motto with reading.
Maybe I'd be more interested if I hadn't read Ace of Spades literally last month because both these books are very similar in what they're trying to accomplish. I'd say the writing and plot of Ace of Spades is much better but The Lies We Tell had stronger characters with personalities who didn't take 200 pages to realize the racist plotline, lol.
