Irresistibly Wild by J. Saman

5.0

I received this book as an ARC, thank you Valentine PR and J. Saman for this amazing opportunity.

Now, I am 100000% an emotional reader and I think I felt EVERY emotion reading this book. Callan is a doctor who "doesn't have time" for relationships and is very much your typical grumpy MMC and Layla is your typical sunshine FMC with big personality and idc attitude towards what people thing of her.

If you're a spicy book lover let me tell you this is a MUST read. The chemistry between Callan and Layla is INSANE from the jump as they meet in an awkward moment in a restaurant where Layla asks Callan to be her fake date to avoid a guy who doesn't take no for an answer, which leads to a night of steamy night of passion, assuming they'll never see each other again. Callan having just lost his mentor/close friend and Layla having just lost her favorite professor.
That is until Layla, a med student discovers that the person replacing her now deceased professor, is her infamous one night stand, he also works at the hospital she'll be interning at. They seem to be able to co-exist and move past that one night....
Until an accident at the hospital forces Layla to relive a traumatic experience in comforting a child who is the only survivor of an accident and losing both parents to discover that the child is none other than Callan's niece, who he's now become the sole provider for.
After a series of unfortunate mishaps with his niece's behavior, he discovers that his deceased sister-in-law's money hungry parents (who are trying to become the fiduciary guardians of the granddaughter they've never met) they're now trying for sole custody citing Callan as "unfit". On the suggestion of his friends he asks Layla (who his niece has bonded with) to be his fake fiancé while the court proceedings are happening so that he has a better chance of holding onto his niece and giving her the life she deserves. While both their feelings towards each other are obvious, Layla hesitates and then ultimately agrees, having realized that her sister essentially did the same thing when her parents died. Shortly after they begin this venture, the CPS worker pays them their first random visit which doesn’t go as well as they planned but they're able to communicate and move on. As they spend more time together the tension grows they realize they can act on their actions without making it a big thing because "its only temporary" (insert womp womp failure sound here lol).
Soon after, everything starts to crumble, their affair is made public with the school and the lies start to crumble around them. However, its soon discovered, thanks to Callan's super sleuth hacker friend, that the CPS worker was being paid off by the Grandparents and this isn’t the first time, apparently she's been taking bribes for years because she "can't survive on her salary". In light of this and despite the "fake" engagement, Layla and Callan both express to the Judge that they actually do love each other and want to be together, the Judge then awards Callan custody of his niece and Layla officially moves in for good as they start their life as one big happy family.

Let me just tell you, the writing, the chemistry, the story line and the spice....its just all AMAZING in this book!
