Enjoyed this quite a bit, I loved seeing Jane grow up and deal with different environments and circumstances, whenever Jane changes locations I found that was when the story was the most enjoyable. I personally found this to be a big improvement over Wuthering heights, definitely think Charlotte is the superior Brontë sister after this (Although I haven't read anything by Anne) and I'm keen to reed more from her. Rochester in terms of a love interest I found quite annoying at certain parts of the book, but I think he redeems himself by the end. This isn't some gross Collen Hoover type of domestic abuse love story with smutty scenes, the only problematic aspects to Rochester is the age gap and his mood swings, and the love is poetic rather than fanfic whatsapp energy.

Cons:
●Pacing can drag at times
●Annoying character traits
●Certain characters are sometimes left in the dust as the story progresses
●A bit poor-phobic, I noticed there's an undercurrent of "poor people are dumb and ugly" throughout the book.

Pros:
●Great character progression
●Complex relationships
●Dark and moody atmosphere
●Mysteries to keep you hooked
●Archaic but poetic writing style
●Memorable characters
●Interesting themes of religion, repentance and faith
●Progressive stances on women and children (For the time)

Overall really enjoyed my time with this, would recommend to anyone who likes classic English literature.
