The ending of this one is a good one, but the journey there ... I found it rather flaccid and meandering, overall. Clearly Zelazny was organising the pieces into the positions he wanted them, but I felt like he was very much taking his time in doing so, with rather too many "this will probably be explained later" diversions that distracted from, rather than supporting, the main plot.
