What We Could Have Been by Tracy Gardner, Jess Sinclair, Jess Sinclair

5.0

I'm not one for family drama books, but this one came recommended by a trusted source. I'm so glad I dove in and read this one. It already ranks high on my list for 2024.

Sinclair's richly imagined novel explores the destructive feud between two families in a small Florida fishing community. The story follows Bluebelle Shea and Enzo Castellari, childhood lovers torn apart by their families' bitter rift. Years later, when Blue returns to Bliss with her son, she finds herself drawn to Enzo once again. As they untangle the past, they uncover the truth behind the families' clash and the tragic night Blue's mother died. With poignant detail and sentiment, Sinclair beautifully illustrates the bonds of family, friendship, and love, and the resilience needed to heal after betrayal. A compelling and emotionally resonant read.
