This volume finally has the conclusion of the Kurose arc, with them finally defeating the god of darkness, and Asahi accepting the mantle of priestess. Along with the Water Dragon, Asahi frees Kurose from Tokoyami's influence, and also saves him from the aftermath. Meanwhile, back in the ancient land, the usurper is unseated by Asahi's power, and it feels for a while like all it going well. If I was wondering why the book seems to be wrapping up storylines, I wasn't just imagining it, because it was confirmed that the next would be the last. So, as a final obstacle, there comes a hiccup (an understatement, truly) in Asahi having a happily ever after with the Water Dragon God. On a narrative standpoint, there's the fact that two arcs have been resolved in one volume, but realistically, they were being dragged on for long enough anyway. I am just looking forward to how it all concludes.
