Star Trek: Countdown by Mike Johnson, Roberto Orci, David Messina, Tim Jones, Alex Kurtzman, Giovanna Niro

2.0

You know... I have trouble with graphic novels. And honestly, I think it's because novels have spoiled me. I understand that in a graphic novel you have to get a limited amount of information out in so many pages, hoping that the images will fill in the blanks. But here... things didn't quite work out. Everything seemed rushed, and I really didn't enjoy the artwork, it seemed simplistic and unimagined. The story itself fills in questions of Nero's backstory and the events in both the Star Trek movie remake, and the Picard series, but there's not enough of it, and honestly all it did was make Nero's character into a rather unintelligent, vengeful character without much cause.

Still, it's Star Trek... and I will always have a soft spot for Jean-Luc Picard.
