Maame by Jessica George
medium-paced
2.0
I struggled to get through this book. The part I enjoyed most were scenes with Maddie’s family. Some of the dialogue with her mother and therapist at the end were really interesting and nuanced conversations about the experience of being a Ghanaian daughter.
However, the rest of the dialogue was so flat it took me out of it. I grew very tired of reading all the fake google searches for every problem. The roommates and love interests were so one dimensional. I struggled to sympathize with Maddie.
