Overcoming grief and rediscovering life, while murder lurks about. She's a deliberate loner as she fears facing loss again, and he's the town's golden boy and all-around great guy. Their romance is a simmering slow burn. I struggled with how she's pushing everyone away, but he's *super* swoony. He's so gentle, caring and patient with her. Such a keeper!
Their romance develops well, and is lovely and emotional in turns. The bit of suspense is intriguing, and the side characters are great. But I didn't likethe 3rd act breakup - she takes a huge step backward, and hurt him badly, which felt unneeded . Would have rated this higher otherwise.
