The Pentecost and Parker mystery series are enjoyable and unique among historical murder mysteries. They feature two women protagonists in the early 20th century, one of whom is disabled and one who is bisexual. They are private eyes and the author employs some of the film noir tropes of the time, I think on purpose, to create a sense of scene. But sometimes that goes a little too far for me. Parker's '40s accent and phrases is annoyingly over the top, like the author is trying to prove how good he is at historical writing. Other than that, I've enjoyed the series and will keep reading them.
