I was lucky enough to find “Tales Of Darkness Drive” by Molly Garcia in one of my book clubs. Garcia was kind enough to share her book with me at the perfect time for reading something that will give you the chills and a little thrills. (Thank you Garcia!)
I immediately loved how this was a book written with eleven stories in one book. Coming into the holiday season, I still had the reading bug. But I knew I would not be able to sit down with a large book. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was a shorter book, with 296 pages. It was a greater surprise to find out how Garcia wrote this book.
The eleven stories are all different, but have two things in common. Each story had issues that are actually going on everyday in real life. Something that we all fear, yet if it happens to us. We quickly find out that we can not control what happens.
The second thing every story has in common is the villain/hero. I definitely have love hate feelings about this character. They are doing good, but seem to be doing it in the most evil way they can? Yet they are removing an evil for the world as well. So how bad can they be? Or are they worse because it seems like they are only doing a good thing in order to feed the evil within themselves?
Garica did a wonderful job of giving us just enough to draw on all the characters, events, and what could have been. That we do not feel like anything is lacking when the stories end. I enjoyed that even though the stories are all different. That they all tie into one great story. This was a book that I felt was both well written and well told.
Having this been my first book by Garcia I wasn't sure what to expect. I can tell you after reading “Tales Of Darkness Drive” I have a new author I will have to keep reading. Along with a thrilling tale that was told so well. That I feel comfortable giving to a young teen as well. With the easy writing style, and the details both told and untold. This is a book that is good for both the young and old. Which was one of the reasons that this story got a 10/10 rating from us!
If you're looking for your next Fall read. Then you should check out Garcie’s “Tales Of Darkness Drive”. I know I’ll be reading her book “The Greed Box” soon.
