I really enjoy Max Porter's writing style; a cleverly lyrical mix of poetry and prose. This wasn't my favourite of his, but I do think he creates very real characters - this was no exception. 'Shy' tracks one night in the life of a troubled teenage boy, and despite the brevity of the book, the snapshots we get into his past creat a very concrete and believeable picture of how he's come to be where he is.
