It’s not until you experience Euripides and Carson together do you realise why Carson favours his work so significantly. Euripides is a master of pathos, arguably THE master of pathos, and Carson nurtures that with such insight and care. She understands his words as though they share hands, and she’s able to transfer that understanding to the reader with annoying ease. Truly a book I’ll cherish forever.
