3.5 stars. First, snaps for the double meaning of the title. Expertly played.

Because I'd read intriguing takes on this (as subtitled) "illustrated misadventure in love and loneliness", and because I serve many readers who are more apt to sample a wordless graphic novel, I suggested this for our collection. Though not exactly the arc I was led to expect, it still wields resonance and inspires reflection. art note: The sketch style of pencil illustration conveys a raw youthfulness that eschews polish, and it serves both narrative and theme well. Occasionally a more delicate glimpse of the outdoors is depicted, and I found myself pausing with the impact. The limited palette of greys, black, and muted red grounds the story in a fairly effective play.
