A Holly Jolly Ever After by Sierra Simone, Julie Murphy

2.0

This one was a major disappointment for me and it started off quite promising because I will admit ‘sex lessons’ are one of my favourite tropes. But then they chuck in a trope I hate (spoiler below AND in the content warnings so beware). Both main characters were annoying in their own way. I also hate it when books refer to characters having loads of sex rather than showing us the sex. It was all super chaotic, lots of time inside the FMC’s head etc. Just not for me, which is a shame as I loved A Merry Little Meet Cute.

The other weird thing is that the FMC has narcolepsy, which is interesting, and yet it seems to have little to no relevance really apart from a bizarre plot point about them meeting as youths, which is never really fully explored.

Really hits you with a surprise pregnancy in the middle which then becomes the key plot point for the rest of the book. And I’m sorry but what 32 year old sexually active woman with regular periods doesn’t notice she’s missed one and needs a friend to point out she might be pregnant because her books hurt.
