Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller

I was gifted this book because of the genderfluid protagonist and was pleasantly surprised. Classic genre fiction with assassins, royal courts, and stories of magic and monsters. The casual portrayal of a genderfluid character was a beautiful addition to the story that allowed for an interesting look into Sal/Twenty Three and all the characters they interacted with. I was not expecting the plot development that came during the last couple of chapters, but thought it set the story up for another book. I cannot wait to read the next one.
