Poppy Redfern and the Midnight Murders by Tessa Arlen

lighthearted mysterious slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Plot
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated

2.5

This book was just so slow. The mystery itself was pretty good and there were quite a few red herrings thrown in. The addition of the main characters book character that she was writing was really weird. It was almost like the main character was schizophrenic. She'd hear her book character's voice in her head helping her realize things she didn't know on her own? It was also just dropped in randomly here and there. The romance was just meh.
