I finally finished The Broken Earth Trilogy!!!! I loved the first two books more than this one, though I enjoy where it ended. The Syl Anagist chapters were unbelievably taxing for me and I don't know if it was my aphantasia impeding me from visualizing more abstract ideas, holiday stress or what, but I definitely struggled with them. Also, in some ways, less happens in this book. This whole series is dense and heavy and I felt crushed by this third volume.
I have a ton of respect for this series, it's an epic work, and also didn't enjoy reading this final book due to the difficulty level. For a less demanding/punishing experience, I would recommend N.K. Jemisin's Inheritance series. A little bit of levity goes a long way and it's a lot more fun.
