Graphic: Racial slurs and Racism
Lies We Tell Ourselves is very eye opening to the extent of the injustice and racism black people had to (and have to) endure - I appreciate this about this book as it has helped me understand just how horrific it was/is, but readers do need to be aware that there are a lot of racial slurs and rather graphic descriptions of these things in the book. However, they are not randomly placed and are dealt with well by the author, so I still recommend people read it!
