Even as someone with a lot of background knowledge about the Middle East, this book helped me understand more fully the dynamics in Europe that contributed to imperialism, especially how rampant antisemitism and Islamophobia were. I think the author’s discussion of Palestine and paternalism is wanting for more context, but overall I would recommend this.
